Andrew Sheen is best know for the 8 years he spent at the UK regulator, firstly in the FSA and subsequently at the PRA.
In his time with these authorities Andrew was manager of the Operational Risk Policy Team before moving to head the team responsible for assessing Operational Risk frameworks in a wide variety of financial institutions. Andrew also represented the UK on the Basel Committee for Banking Supervisors Operational Risk Working Group and the European Banking Authority’s Operational Risk Working Group. After leaving the PRA Andrew became Head of Operational Risk Use and Embedding at HSBC and subsequently joined Credit Suisse as the Head of their Operational Risk Regulatory Risk Management capability.
In 2019 Andrew retired and set up a consultancy to provide assistance and training in Operational Risk matters. Andrew actively promotes the development and discipline of Operational Risk and is a Fellow of the Institute of Operational Risk. He produced papers on Operational Risk with colleagues at the PRA and is a regular speaker and panelist at Operational Risk Conferences globally.

Jimi has over 20 years’ experience in operational risk and regulation. After completing his Ph.D. on financial regulation and public choice economics in 2000, he joined the UK Financial Services Authority (UKFSA).
At the UKFSA he held a number of positions including as an operational risk policy specialist, bank supervisor and finally as the lead on Basel 2 implementation in wholesale firms. He then joined the EMEA HQ of the Japanese GSIFI MUFG in 2008 as head of Policy, Risk and Regulatory Affairs for the bank. Jimi left MUFG to form NJ Risk and Regulatory Consulting in 2016 to provide consulting services, training and practical support on operational risk and regulatory affairs. He has worked with a range of clients, including a GSIFI, an international bank subsidiary, and a pension scheme.
Jimi is a Fellow of the Institute of Operational Risk (IOR) and Chairman of the IOR in England & Wales since 2017. He is a regular speaker on operational risk and regulatory affairs at conferences and IOR events, and has published numerous journal articles, including on the operational risk capital regime in the Journal of Operational Risk.

Julien Haye joined Fidelity International (FIL) in July 2017 as Head of Non-Financial Risk in London and has over twenty years’ experience in the Financial industry.
In his current role, Julien partners with FIL’s top management and Board, leveraging risk insights to improve the firm’s operating model efficiency and product offering through effective risk management and culture, and to continuously improve the firm’s client outcome and journey.
Julien joined Fidelity from DWS, where his role was Global Conduct Officer and UK Chief Risk Officer. He joined Deutsche Bank in 2012 where he held various positions in Risk Oversight and ICAAP, before joining the 3 Lines of Defense Programme as Risk & Control Assessment Lead. In addition to his work with Deutsche Bank, Julien has worked for several financial services institutions in Treasury, Risk, Capital Management, Programme Management and Trading.
Julien is passionate about people, art and design. For many years he has led the LGBT diversity and inclusion agenda at the firms he worked for, mentoring young professionals and entrepreneurs to help them to reach their potential and supporting non-profit organisations.
Julien leads the Global LGBT inclusion strategy for FIL working closely with senior management and the HR team to nurture FIL’s inclusive and diverse culture. Nilesh Varu MSc. CISM is currently focused on Group Operational Resilience oversight at Lloyds Banking Group and has a solid risk background with more than 17 years of subject matter expertise in IT management, information security, data privacy as well as regulatory frameworks.
Through a demonstrated history of working in financial services, Nilesh has been closely involved with the Operational Resilience agenda for a number of years and has led various high profile initiatives up to Board level.
Nilesh is also part of an extensive professional network and is an active committee member for a not-for-profit industry group focussed on Operational Resilience matters.

Charles is currently the Group Head of Operational Risk at Allied Irish Banks.
Previously, Charles was with UBS and held a number of roles including Head of Shared Services Operational Risk for the global Investment Bank and UBS UK, Group Head of Third Party Risk and COO for Data Operations & Technology and the Client Data Confidentiality programme. Before joining UBS, he was with Ernst & Young in the Risk & Regulatory Advisory practice. He has previously held roles managing risk, operations and technology for Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and Barclays Capital.
Charles began his career at the United Nations managing technology and operations projects to support military peace-keeping operations and humanitarian relief programmes.
Michael Sicsic is a senior executive in the field of risk and regulation in the financial services sector. He has a deep understanding of business models in the retail financial sector and its related risks.
Michael has founded Sicsic Advisory, a London based boutique consultancy focusing on financial services risk and regulation, in 2019. His team has a unique combination of expertise gained through direct industry experience, consulting roles and regulatory supervision leadership role in the UK retail finance market. Michael is the former head of supervision for the general insurance retail sector at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Previously, he held the position of Global Operational Risk Director at Aviva Plc., covering Life Insurance, Asset Management and Non-Life insurance.
Formerly, he worked for over 10 years at GE Capital in various senior risk and finance positions across commercial and corporate finance activities.
