Dipak Chotai is the founder of a specialist consultancy firm, JD Risk Solutions, and is a veteran of risk management. He was most recently a Managing Director at UBS reporting into the Global Head of FX, Rates and Credit as the Head of Risk Management for the fixed income business, and was part of the IB leadership team. 

Dipak’s team was responsible for approving all bilateral legal documentation for UMR, and was integral in optimising the business for the Uncleared Margin regulation including running roadshows for clients globally on uncleared margin and mandatory clearing.

Throughout his 17-year tenure at UBS, Dipak has occupied roles within technology, middle office, and front office. Notably, Dipak was a senior trader on the XVA desk during the financial crisis. 

Dipak has also served on CCP Risk Committees and Default Management Committees, and on the boards of OTCDerivNet and CreditDerivClear.

He has held a range of leadership positions such as regionally heading Surveillance, Risk Framework (operational risk) and Monitoring & Testing at leading global banks. His current role is Asia Pacific Head of Regulatory Compliance Risk Assurance at HSBC where he set up from scratch and has successfully run for over six years one of the largest second line of defence assurance functions in Asia.

Previously, Charles was with UBS and held a number of roles including Head of Shared Services Operational Risk for the global Investment Bank and UBS UK, Group Head of Third Party Risk and COO for Data Operations & Technology and the Client Data Confidentiality programme. Before joining UBS, he was with Ernst & Young in the Risk & Regulatory Advisory practice. He has previously held roles managing risk, operations and technology for Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and Barclays Capital.

Charles began his career at the United Nations managing technology and operations projects to support military peace-keeping operations and humanitarian relief programmes.

Dr. Rabi N. Mishra

Reserve Bank of INDIA

A central banker for more than three decades and half, Dr. Rabi N. Mishra was the Executive Director (Supervision & SupTech) at RBI, INDIA’s Central bank till recently. He was the Head of the Departments of Risk, Financial Stability & the Training Academy at RBI.

He has worked as a member in the Boards of banks in India and a few Committees of the Financial Stability Board. He had the opportunities to work closely with the IMF and the BIS too. He had helped setting up of the Macro-Financial Surveillance Architecture for India as well as Oman. 

He has a Ph.D in Economics and had a stint as a Post-Doctoral research fellow at the Economics Department of Harvard University.

He is the Author of the recent Book “SYSTEMIC RISK & MACROPRUDENTIAL REGULATIONS –The Global Financial Crisis & Thereafter”.
