Vera has been working at Raiffeisen Bank for 8 years and is responsible for Green Loan Portfolio management. She is involved in methodological development of Group-wide risk models of expected cash flows realization and future behavior of customer loans, deposits, and off-balance sheet products.

Ita Demyttenaere

Ita is an Associate Director in Sustainalytics’ Client Relations team, advising clients on their use of Sustainalytics’ products and on integrating ESG considerations into their investment processes. Since joining Sustainalytics in 2014, Ita has worked with several large financial institutions in both the Benelux and Nordics, across all business lines from asset managers to lending departments. Prior to joining Sustainalytics, Ita worked for several financial institutions including Deutsche Bank and Euroclear in both operational and commercial roles. Ita is a CFA Charterholder and holds a master’s degree in International Relations and Finance from the University of Amsterdam.

Hardik Shah, CFA

ESG practice lead

GMO LLC

Mr. Shah leads the ESG practice at GMO and is responsible for building GMO’s ESG capability across investment product areas and asset classes. He is also a member of the CFA Institute’s ESG Working Group for FY20 whose purpose is to develop a proposal for an ESG industry standard for ESG-centric funds and investment strategies.

Prior to joining GMO in 2017, he led a global team of analysts focused on ESG ratings and thematic research at Sustainalytics. Previously, he was an ESG Ratings associate at MSCI and, as a senior climate change consultant with Ernst & Young, has helped register a wide variety of projects with the UNFCCC under the Clean Development Mechanism defined in the Kyoto Protocol. During 2015 and 2016, Mr. Shah was voted #1 “research firm analyst who understands the challenges & opportunities facing companies” in the global Independent Research in Responsible Investment (IRRI) Survey. He earned his Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics from University of Mumbai and holds a post-graduate diploma in management - e business (finance) from We School, Mumbai.

Mr. Shah holds the Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting (FSA) credential issued by SASB and is a CFA charter holder.

Samuel Baumgartner

Samuel Baumgartner is a business development manager at responsAbility, responsible for Swiss private clients and institutional investors in Hong Kong and Israel. In March 2020 Samuel initiated the “make your money move” webinar series, which he also hosts. The series provides a starting point and a toolkit to get involved in sustainable investing. Samuel is also a frequent keynote speaker on sustainable and impact investing.

Prior to his time at responsAbility, Samuel worked with an investment advisory in Peru and Chile matching investors with local private equity opportunities. 

Samuel holds a bachelor degree in business administration and is working on his masters in finance focusing on sustainable finance at the university of Zürich. 

Gerhard Mulder

Climate Risk Services

Gerhard’s career in climate finance spanned both the public and private sector, having worked in consulting in Washington DC, environmental markets on Wall Street, and for the Dutch government (Netherlands Enterprise Agency), Dutch banks (ABN AMRO and Rabobank) and a leading non-profit (IUCN) in the Netherlands.

He co-founded Climate Risk Services together with Stephanie Gnissios to advise public and private sector organisations on climate risk after he completed his MBA at Oxford in 2018. He studied environmental economics and international affairs at Columbia University in New York, and Public Policy at the University of Amsterdam. 

Rebecca Self

Director of Sustainable Finance (and former CFO, HSBC)

South Pole

Rebecca is South Pole’s Director of Sustainable Finance. With over 20 years experience in the financial sector, she  leads the practice in bringing climate science based products and services to the financial sector at scale.  Prior to joining South Pole, Rebecca was Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Sustainable Finance at HSBC Holdings plc based in London. Here she was responsible for the group-wide financials relating to Sustainable Finance products.

In addition, Rebecca was responsible for HSBC’s external ESG reporting and investor relations activity – including the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures, CDP questionnaire process and group-wide sustainability risk policies, such as agricultural commodities.

Brunno Maradei

Global head of responsible investment

Aegon Asset Management

Brunno Maradei is the Global Head of Responsible Investment at Aegon Asset Management. Prior to this role he was a Senior Investment Officer at the European Investment Bank, working mostly on structured finance for infrastructure projects in Africa.  

Brunno has worked in the finance industry for over 20 years, starting in Morgan Stanley’s risk management practice  in London and subsequently moving to JPMorgan.  Brunno spent over three years in the leadership team at EIRIS, a leading ESG research house in London, and over eight years in the World Bank Group in Washington, where he developed sustainable investment products for emerging markets and structured blended finance for renewable energy projects in Africa.

Brunno also spent two years advising the European Commission on blended finance for development impact.  Brunno is a CFA charterholder, holds an MBA from London Business School and a BSc (Econ) from the London School of Economics.
