Joy Rankothge is a Political and sovereign risk analyst with expertise generating ratings, analyzing and forecasting country risks and assessing transaction level risks and mitigants for political risk insurance and sovereign/non-honoring sovereign transactions.  He is experienced working with financial institutions underwriting of political risks for project finance, political risk insurance (PRI), non-honoring sovereign and sovereign lending transactions.  Joy has over fifteen years of emerging markets experiences gained at Canada’s commercially operated export credit agency, Export Development Canada (EDC), Moody’s Investors Services, and Deloitte Consulting (USA).   

 

During his time at EDC, he led the Asia political and sovereign risk team and also reviewed all non-standard deals over CAD$ 100million and all state-owned entity related transactions. He's been involved in over 750 transactions including involving PRI, project finance, and non-honoring sovereign deals.  Currently he leads and manages Country Acuity Advisors where he advises companies looking to expand into Asia on political, geopolitical and macro risks in order to increase resiliency and manage through uncertainty.  He is also a strategic partner to Limark Technologies, a software services firm that works with Silicon Valley start-ups.  He holds a Masters from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, including coursework at Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from Knox College, IL.

Chris had previously worked at Oxford Analytica, as the analyst for their Daily Brief subscription product covering North America, Australia, New Zealand, and NATO, and as an Advisory Associate, leading projects for the Department of Defense, European Parliament, and others. He has also worked in business intelligence, government consulting in Iraqi Kurdistan, and on political campaigns in Massachusetts.

Chris has a PhD in International Relations from the University of Oxford and a BA with Honors and Magna Cum Laude from Brown University. He is a Lecturer at the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University.
