Ariane Chapelle

Ariane Chapelle has a PhD in Economics and is active in operational risk management since 2000, with experience acquired in managerial functions in ING Group and Lloyds Banking Group. Ariane Chapelle runs since 2006 her own training and consulting practice in risk management. Her clients include Tier 1 financial organisations such as AVIVA, AXA, HSBC, JP MORGAN and SWIFT. 

Before running her practice, Dr. Chapelle was the holder to Chair of International Finance (2003-2007) of Solvay Business School (University of Brussels). She holds a PhD in Economics, a Masters in Econometrics and a Master in Business Administration.

Dr. Chapelle is Honorary Reader at the University College London in Operational Risk, Fellow of the Institute of Operational Risk and member of the editorial board of the Journal of Operational Risk. She is a trainer in operational risk since 2006 and has designed the classroom training and course series on ORM certificate for many large organisations, both in-house and in public courses. Her book « Reflexions on Risk Management », published in July 2017 is the collection of her 28 articles written on operational risk management.

Nicolas Renard has 17 years of experience in Financial Services. Over the last 8 years, he specialised in the delivery of Non Financial Risk Management projects, working mostly in transversal teams on critical Operational Risk and Compliance projects, including the delivery of several bank-wide projects in IT risk management fraud risk, and scenario analysis.

Nicolas holds a Master degree in Management, is certified in Project Management (PRINCE2 Practitioner) and Process Improvement (Six Sigma Green Belt). He is has extensive experience in Operational Risk and Enterprise Risk Management and is a member of various professional risk organisations. He has recently been appointed member of the board for the newly launched regional group of the IRM, covering Belgium and Luxembourg.

Nicolas is a trusted advisor, able to understand the key concerns of business & IT stakeholders, passionate about demonstrating the added value of risk management. He was most recently as a Senior Manager in Risk Consulting for KPMG in Belgium, before joining CHAPELLE CONSULTING.

David Lannoy has a vast experience in Risk Management gained in 15 years of working in various sectors of industry such as transport, finance and telecommunication. His achievements include: developing an Enterprise Risk Management approach in a technology firm providing payment services; bringing operational risk management and business continuity to a higher level in financial companies; implementing criminal risk assessment and terrorist threat assessment for the public sector, designing and facilitating RCSA workshops in entreprise-wide projects.

David holds a Master degree in Political Sciences, Certificates from high-profile Risk Management courses. He has been admitted to join The Institute of Risk Management in London as a Specialist Member and has also become Certified ISO 31000 Risk Manager and Certified ISO 31000 Lead Trainer. He is a regular guest lecturer and master thesis supervisor at the HEG Geneva School of Business Administration and contributes to professional publications.

Her active contributions to public and private sectors in policies, best practices, internal IT security controls, awareness programs, risk analysis and metrics have been recognized for her TA (technical assistance) on numerous occasions by IMF, EBRD, UN, etc. Quoted in the ESM history book of her Institution as one of the technology pioneers  of the ESM, she currently holds a Senior Head of Operational Risk and Cybersecurity Risk position for European Investment Bank
